The coach, acquired in 1981, is the club's second railway carriage on the same site. The original Club headquarters was a wooden Victorian six-wheeled saloon, now preserved at the East Anglian Railway Museum.
In 2006 the club removed the "Uttlesford Junction" layout as this being now over 20 years old had become unreliable for public running. In its place, the area has been redecorated and provides the club with a much needed construction and exhibition space.
Currently the club is constructing an 'O' gauge layout that is designed to be portable for external exhibition purposes as well as in the coach. The overall track length of 30ft will allow a good run for members stock. Also on the plans is the completion of a long standing 'N' gauge layout.
Club members open the coach on Bank Holidays to demonstrate their personal exhibition layouts.
The Club meets on every Tuesday evening from 8pm until 10pm. New members are always welcome.
